A Safe Space for Growth

Conference Room.png

Welcome to Hunter Counseling and Wellness, a safe and nurturing space to support your healing journey. My goal as a therapist is to create a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore your thoughts and emotions. I offer trauma-informed, evidence-based therapies - including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE) - to support meaningful and lasting change. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to healing, and I am committed to building trust as we work together. Together, we'll navigate your healing journey toward a healthier future.

A little about me...

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma care, with over 22 years of experience working with couples and families exposed to various forms of trauma - including abuse, intimate partner and sexual violence, natural disaster, and combat trauma. I studied at the University of Texas at Austin for both my undergraduate (BSW) and graduate degrees (MSSW) in Social Work. Since graduating with my MSSW in 2003, I have worked in a variety of settings, to include non-profit organizations, schools, and hospitals. For 16 years, I also worked for the Army and Veterans Health Administration in multiple roles, including as a trauma therapist, program manager, and developing mental health treatment programs for service members and veterans. I am deeply committed to supporting military personnel and veterans, especially as they transition from active-duty back to civilian life.  I also have a passion for helping couples resolve conflict, increase intimacy, and strengthen their connections.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that healing occurs through connection, understanding, and the recognition of individual agency, while honoring the complex relational, cultural, and social contexts that shape our lives. I am also certified in and integrate  several evidence-based trauma therapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE). I believe the foundation of successful treatment is a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. Together, we will navigate your path to healing, honoring your unique experiences, recognizing your strengths, and fostering greater self-awareness, resilience, and a sense of empowerment as you move toward meaningful and lasting change.
